2008 Missions Trips
Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave His charge: "God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I'll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20 (The Message)

You were made for a mission. Every believer at First Baptist Church has the privilege of being on mission through prayer, giving, and going. Church led opportunities for engaging the culture with God's love include:

  • Prayer team member for mission projects
  • Financial supporter
  • Mission Team Member
  • Mission Team Leader
  • Volunteer during our churchwide Missions Emphasis Weekend
  • Host a visiting missionary during our Missions Emphasis Weekend

Mission Team Requirements

  • The ability to give testimony of your personal relationship with Christ.
  • An active member of a Bible Study class.
  • A faithful fianacial supporter of your church.
  • Completion of the FBC Background Profile.
  • Completion of Mission Team Application
  • Spiritual, emotional, and physical ability to perform assigned jobs.

Greensboro, SC – February 1 - 8
Mission: Assist a local church in various aspects of construction of a new building, including drywall work and painting.

Haiti – March 10 - 17
Mission: Travel to La Gonave (small island west of Port-a-Prince) as part of the construction team for the Church Building Project
Team Members: Don Carter, Benis Guerrier, Roy Underwood, Andrew Vanover.

Peru – April 18 – 25
Mission: Team will journey to Lima, Peru and the surrounding areas as we being our partnership with R.E.A.P.
Team Members: Kevin Kite, Jamie & Anamaria Bohorquez, Fernando & Milli Marrero.

Alaska – May 15 - 23
Mission: Team will join Pam & George Lorenz and complete maintenance and construction projects on the Laverne Griffin Recreation Youth Camp in Wasilla, Alaska.
Team Members: Angie Bryant, Billie Jo Jefferson, Bobby Peebles, Doug & Staci Smith, Judy Vaughn, Juliana Shimizu, Julie DeVol, Ken & Rachel DeMoliner, Larry Ross, Mike Phipps, Rachel Harrison, Rebecca Gillette, Robert & Diane Priest, Sue Livoti, and Adam, Allyson & Aaron Suydam

Haiti – July 5 - 12
Mission: Travel to La Gonave (small island west of Port-a-Prince) as part of the construction team for the Church Building Project

Romania – July 10 – 20
Mission: Travel to Oradea on the Children’s Camp team and partner with Randy & Debbie Bullock. This team will engage 45 gypsy children in an exciting summer camp adventure.

Canada – Dates TBD
Mission: Travel to Mississauga to partner with missionaries Brett & Kathryn Porter at The Sanctuary and with Dave & Ruth Hudson with Athletes in Action
