Business Administration

Stewardship Education
Our pastor, church staff, Finance Committee, and Budget Committee strive to help our people understand that every decision we make in our lives is a stewardship decision, because everything we have belongs to God. We are simply stewards, not owners, of our material resources. Through the use of sermons, Bible Study lessons, small groups, and seminars, we teach Christians how to make wise Biblical Stewardship decisions in their lives.

Administration of Church Finances
Proper administration of church finances is very important to First Baptist Church. Our Finance Committee has the responsibility to monitor contributions and to administer the church-approved ministry plan (budget). A well-trained Counting Committee assists in the processing of contributions. Our financial secretary, Financial Assistant, and the Associate Pastor for Business Administration administer general accounting functions, reporting to the chariman of Finance Committee and congregation weekly, and to the full Finance Committee monthly. The Finance Committee reports to the congregation quarterly.

Our Budget Committee includes our Finance Committee, church staff, and other key church leaders. It meets in the summer and early fall to formulate a proposed ministry plan (budget) for the following year. It presents the proposed ministry plan to the deacons, then to the congregation for adoption in November of each year.

Administration of Church Properties
God has blessed our church with wonderful facilities that allow for a full range of ministry activity. We desire to not only use, but also maintain, our buildings, in such a way that glorifies God. This includes regular maintenance in addition to weekly and daily housekeeping. Our maintenance and housekeeping staffs are here to serve our congregation through meeting these needs. Our Properties Committee helps provide guidance and direction and has responsibility for major decisions affecting our buildings and grounds.
Use of our buildings and grounds by any group, church or community, requires advance approval by the church staff.

Administration of Church Support Services

Office Administration
The tasks that take place in the church office impact all ministry areas. Efficient office administration allows those ministry areas to function in the best manner possible. Office staff can be reached at (352)629-5683.

Food Services
Our Food Services department allows us to provide meals that enhance Christian fellowship. Our most visible activity by our Food Services department is our weekly Fellowship Meal on Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. We provide this meal (at a reasonable cost to the diners) so that our people can more easily be involved with mid-week church activities and so that they can have an opportunity to spend time with other church members outside of a classroom setting. We also provide food services to any group in the church and to outside groups using our facilities.
